Cornwall on Hudson – On Monday, September 29th, in the midst of circumnavigating the globe, 35-year old motorcyclist made a stop at The Storm King School to speak with students about her many adventures and to show them, by example, how to live out their dreams.
The charming and genuine Ms. Grechishkina, a native of Kyiv, Ukraine, began her hour-long slide show presentation by describing the unlikely beginnings of what would turn out to be her self-titled “I Have a Dream” tour across six continents. The idea for this journey began to germinate 10 years ago, when for no good reason, Ms. Grechishkina purchased her first motorcycle. Over the next several years she would travel across Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Georgia and India. It was in India, that Ms. Grechishkina made the startling decision to travel the entire world, alone on her bike.
After over a year of preparation, Ms. Grechishkina and her metal case-laden, sticker-clad KTM bike, embarked on July 27, 2013, on a course that would take her from her native Ukraine to, ultimately, more than 50 countries. By the time of her visit to SKS, she’d traversed Russia, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Australia and the United States, all the while making friends, inspiring people and surviving on smarts and the kindness of strangers, or as she puts it, “relying on the help of the Universe.” This fall, she moves on to Central and South America, followed by Africa and then Europe. When not on land, her bike travels via sea or air, depending on the circumstances.
